Convergence Arts is committed to sharing the art of improvisation through performances and workshops for people of all ages. By creating a space for the public to express themselves through the arts, Convergence hopes to enable accessibility in creative endeavors for everyone.
Convergence Arts was formed to promote and advance greater knowledge and appreciation of the arts and to utilize artistic expression to promote better communication between disparate ideas and positions. Thus, through the arts and artistic expression, it is hoped that the community-at-large becomes closer and familiar.
Convergence Arts is the proud sponsor of the Queens Jazz OverGround (QJOG), a collective of Queens-based musicians that stimulates a wider of awareness of Queens as an important destination for live jazz, cultivates a diverse local audience, and enriches the cultural life of the borough. QJOG is the collective-in-residence at Flushing Town Hall, and curated a concert series for the 2013-14 season as well as their annual Spring Jazz Day, occurring the last Saturday in April.
