A band whose name belies its sound, Deathblow is a jazz quartet led by guitarist/composer Amanda Monaco. Monaco writes music that sounds like what might have happened if Miles Davis were musical director of The Muppet Show: free-bop sensibilities combined with through-composition equal parts textural, adventurous, and whimsical.
Deathblow has performed at the Red Hook Jazz Festival, Cornelia St. Café, and numerous venues in the NYC area. Their second CD is slated for a mid-2016 release.
