Convergence Arts, Inc. is proud to announce its latest project: Lioness, a collective of female jazz instrumentalists living in New York City. Its mission is to educate the community at large by sharing music created by women, both past and present in schools, community spaces for the general public as well as through networking opportunities for female musicians.

Beginning in September 2018, Lioness will present a monthly four-concert series at Flushing Town Hall in Flushing, Queens, NY. Each Sunday afternoon concert will feature an ensemble led by one of the Lioness members. The concerts will focus on original music written by bandleaders. Following the concerts, audience members are invited to participate in Q&A sessions with the bandleaders. All ages are welcome, and the concerts are $5/free for students, teens, and members. This series is made possible (in part) by the Queens Council on the Arts with public funds from the New York City Department of Cultural Affairs in partnership with the City Council.

Convergence Arts (CAI) is committed to sharing the art of improvisation through performances and workshops for people of all ages. By creating a space for the public to express themselves through the arts, CAI hopes to enable accessibility in creative endeavors for everyone. Past projects of CAI include the Queens Jazz OverGround (QJOG), a collective of Queens-based musicians that stimulates a wider of awareness of Queens as an important destination for live jazz, cultivates a diverse local audience, and enriches the cultural life of the borough. QJOG was the collective-in-residence at Flushing Town Hall for the 2013-14 season and their annual Spring Jazz Fest has been presented the last weekend in April since 2013. In 2015. CAI presented the Six String Summit at Single Cut, a concert series featuring guitarists Nels Cline and Julian Lage, among others.
